Open House/Summer Fun Party

We had a great party last weekend to celebrate our new house with our friends. We started the process of house building over 2 1/2 years ago, when we first started looking at available lots in town. We researched the locations and prices before finally deciding on our area. This area is close to the golf course, which makes a lot of sense with our family and enjoys elements of being in town with the feel of being out of town. After finally deciding on the location, we found a designer and had so much fun designing our very own house. We started building the last week of July 2007. We spent almost every day stopping by the house to see every step of the progress, while we also agonized over the interior decisions. With help from an interior designer, we developed the house we had pictured in our minds. We moved in the first week of April. Although we are still making it become the house we dreamed about, it has been a wonderful first 5 months and we can't wait to see what the future holds. Sometime in the future I'll put pictures of the whole building process on the blog. For now, here are pictures of the party we threw to celebrate with our friends. We rented a bouncy castle for all the kids, about 25 of them came with their parents. The adults even enjoyed a double ball knockout game of basketball. In all, there were over 50 people at our house to play, eat, talk and have fun. We absolutely loved seeing everyone and having a chance to just relax and have fun before the summer comes to an end!

FAMILY TOGETHERNESS!

My parents took the whole clan last week to a resort with swimming, biking, tennis and golf. With us all, there were 13 people. The cousins had a great time hanging out together and spent considerable time catching lizards. They even named the lizards, Larry and Leroy. One evening, the 3 boys ages 2-4 had a great time wrestling and laughing in the middle of the living room. My 4-year-old liked his 1-year-old cousin so much that he said, "She is so cute, I want to keep her." Since the weather was even nicer than we expected, we spent considerable time at the pool which really helped with the boys confidence and fun in the water.

Little Delights

I just loved watching my 4 year old this evening. He was practicing his whistle blowing and finger snapping and absolutely delighted every time he made any noise. He then informed me that he could do both at the same time. I may not like it anymore when he can actually produce some sound, but for now it's a joy to watch him grow and learn.
