And Soon There Will Be More...

Drumroll-The biggest family news of the year is that we will be having a baby-due July 9th. We just told the kids about it this weekend. D gave the cutest sheepish grin and O just kept playing with the puppy. That day, D and I had some cute conversations.

D-"How big is the baby?"
Me-"About this big"-showing him with the distance between my index finger and thumb
D-"What if she was this big, from the wall to the window, you would not be able to carry her" again with the sheepish grin

Me-"Do you want a brother or a sister?"
D-"I want a baby sister. No, it doesn't matter."

As I was putting him to bed that night, "I love you mommy and I love you baby (as he pats my belly gently)."

We have a doppler that we rented to listen to the baby's heartbeat throughout the pregnancy and now that I have shown it to the boys, we listen every night at their request. O has even started talking to my belly without any prompting. It is quite cute.

Christmas Day and our new puppy

So, wasn't this last couple of weeks interesting weather wise? We had more time at home than we were expecting and all got some cabin fever. On Tuesday, we spent a seven hour round trip drive to pick up our xmas puppy for the boys. A drive which under normal conditions should have taken 2 hours. A wonderful friend of ours drove us to get her in the horrible driving conditions. The boys were very cute when they saw her. D said, "Is that for us?" in a very sweet voice. They have enjoyed her, but the puppy training is going to be a challenge for us with no experience. Hopefully we get through it okay. On Christmas day, it took us about an hour to just get across town to my parents house between the chain falling off and the walk back to get it and parking 1/4 mile from their house and walking the rest of the way with all our snow gear on. But, despite the weather, it was a nice christmas and one we won't forget. I'm just happy today that we can easily leave our house again.

And more snow

I keep thinking that I am done with pictures of the snow, but here are some more from today. This is usually O's face after 10 minutes outside. He's ready to come in.
This is D actually standing in the snow. That's how deep the snow really is at our house!
Trying to build a snow fort/tunnel.

Can't Believe The Snow!

I can't believe that I am saying this, but I am actually tired of the snow. When I'm only used to about 1 day of snow at a time usually, over a week seems like forever. While I have lived where there was snow on the ground for 6 months at a time, this area is not as prepared for this type of weather. So, today we will again spend the day at home. Maybe it is good for me to try to learn and relax and enjoy what comes my way!

All Day Project

Today is D's birthday. We have been snowed in for days now, so I decided to give him a present that I had been planning to wait a year or 2 to give to him. But, we all needed something to do. Good idea, right? Wrong. After my husband and I switched back and forth and spent hours on the project that was suppose to entertain the boys instead of causing fights between them and crying, we have finally just finished. Of course, the boys are now sound asleep. Ahhhhhhhh.... To at least make it worthwhile, here is a picture of the lego Ferris wheel that does actually work!

AND snow some more...

I can't believe how much snow we have gotten this week. I think the boys are actually getting bored of the snow. I had to drag them outside today. And, it's suppose to keep coming!

Don't worry, we had the always important hot chocolate after playing in the snow today.

Let It Snow

I waited all day for it to snow and it finally came around 4pm. We played in it for a while, but the wind was awfully chilly!

Let The Holidays Begin...

Well, it's that time of year again. We started off with Thanksgiving at our new house on Thursday. Everything except the turkey that wasn't cooked all the way went alright. We saw the local xmas parade and tree lighting on Friday. Today we went and got our Xmas tree on a beautiful November day.

Birthday Bash for the Boys

Wow! What a fun evening for the boys. We had pizza, cake and gift opening. All the essentials to a good birthday party. Plus, we had 22 kids come to celebrate with them. Luckily, they brought their parents along and we got to enjoy catching up with all of them at the same time. The boys have spent all day opening the boxes to the various gifts and playing with all of them. Thanks to all who came to the party!

The Boys loved decorating their own cakes this year for their birthday party. O spent about 10 minutes on his with all his decorations in one area of the cake. D had to finally be cut off from decorating his cake after an hour. Isn't it a piece of art!

Binkie Party

On Saturday, we had our binkie party in conjunction with O's 3rd birthday. We went to Build-A-Bear and O got to choose an animal and the binkie's went inside. We had done this successfully once before and just hoped it would work again. He chose a cat and named him Sporticus. Then we went and thoroughly wore the boys out at Chuck E. Cheese's. It was a fun night and we successfully are done with binkie's once again.

Halloween!

Tonight we had 9 adults and 12 kids over for pizza before heading out as a mob to go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. It was fun chaos and the boys are totally exhausted already.

New Beds

My husband and I spent the day cleaning out the kids room in anticipation of their new beds arriving. We got everything all put together and went and picked the boys up to show them their surprise. They were so excited. D has spent the last 1/2 hour just sitting on his bed and rearranging his room. He moved his picture of O and him to his nightstand and told me he put it there "so he could think of his buddy O." It was so sweet. It will be interesting to see how O does in his first night in a big boy bed. Wish us luck.
