Halloween!

Tonight we had 9 adults and 12 kids over for pizza before heading out as a mob to go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. It was fun chaos and the boys are totally exhausted already.

New Beds

My husband and I spent the day cleaning out the kids room in anticipation of their new beds arriving. We got everything all put together and went and picked the boys up to show them their surprise. They were so excited. D has spent the last 1/2 hour just sitting on his bed and rearranging his room. He moved his picture of O and him to his nightstand and told me he put it there "so he could think of his buddy O." It was so sweet. It will be interesting to see how O does in his first night in a big boy bed. Wish us luck.

Fun Fall Photos

Can't help it-I love fall pictures!

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday we had a fun afternoon at the pumpkin patch. The weather was beautiful and the kids had a blast! It's one of my favorite activities every year!

School Field Trip

Today I took the morning off and went with D's preschool to the pumpkin patch. It was fun being able to see D in that environment and meet all of his buddies. They had a great time even though it was foggy and cold. Before we left for the day, the whole class made leaf books from D's original idea.

Grocery Shopping

So, I did something crazy on Saturday and decided to take the boys grocery shopping with me. Generally, my husband and I go separately without kids because it is so much easier, but I was determined to get it done while he was playing in a golf tournament. They were extremely energetic after just having a cookie while I shredded papers at the local bank and used that sugar high while shopping. They were in an attached car on the grocery cart pretending to drive and reaching out and touching everything in their arms length. I was being careful to keep the cart centered in the isle (I thought). When about 4 rows in they suddenly got very quiet and stopped moving. I was so happy about it, that I didn't question it. After walking down one whole isle in peace they both suddenly stuck their arms out of their respective side of the "car" with a bottle of bbq sauce in their hands. I growled at them a little and walked back down to put the bottles away. After a few minutes, I just had to laugh and it's been my best story of the week!

My First Garden

Well, the season and our garden are almost finished for the year. We planted our very first garden this year. We had no idea what to buy, how to plant it and when to pick it. Amazingly, it turned out great! We had an abundance of sweet peas, zucchini, cucumbers, beans and tomatoes. We didn't fair as well with the carrots, strawberries and red peppers, so we'll have to decide if we will attempt them again. We are also currently getting onions and red potatoes. Overall it was a success and the boys loved helping weed, picking the food and eating the food from the garden.

Sporting Events

This is absolutely my favorite summer/fall of sports until another 4 years comes around. I was addicted like I always am to watching the summer olympics this year. It was thrilling to watch Michael Phelps win his 8 gold medals! As I am slowly getting older, I also loved watching Dara Torres swim, quite an inspiration. And, I love rooting for the USA! I spent one summer olympics watching on the local English channels when we lived in England. It was a very different point of view. Still fun to watch, but I like the coverage in the states. Also this year was the Ryder Cup. And how much fun was it watching the emotions of the players as they competed. It's just not like any other golfing event. Since I was so in to sports, I also watched more US Open tennis than normal and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now, I always look forward to college basketball in March, but this period of time is just my favorite!
