LONG WEEK...Tonsils out!

Last week O got his tonsils and adenoids out. The surgery was very quick, but apparently O had a hard time coming out of the anesthetic and tried to rip his IV out, so we didn't get to see him for about 45 minutes. By the time Billy and I saw him, he was calm again and ready to munch on some popsicles. The first day went smooth, but by the second day, O refused to take his pain meds and we used every bribing trick we could think of including several trips to the toy store. But by the third day, even that didn't work and after having him not eat or drink all day long we took him to the doctor. Finally, a tylenol suppository saved us from having him admitted. Those and chewable tylenols mixed in a handful of smarties were the only reason we made it through the weekend! It took a good 8 days before the "old" happy O seemed to reappear. It was a long week for O's parents, but we made it though. He now sleeps so well and his voice is totally different, but still cute!

I don't know how you guys got through all of that. Having your kids be in pain is NOT fun. Especially when they won't take pain meds or eat. He sure was adorable today and it was good to see him feeling well. It was also good to see you and your cute tummy!

Bummer! Glad he's feeling better. We had to try to force grace to take this yucky medicine one time and it was awful! After several failed attempts (and throwing ups) we had to go to the DR and have it injected! It's so hard when they're in pain or sick and they don't really understand why or why you have to do certain things!

Ian is the same way with meds and he doesn't really like candy much. We try to sneak it in drinks, etc. The nurse at the hospital when he had stitches whispered in his ear that he if didn't take his pills, she was giving him a shot in the butt! It worked that time, he sucked it down so FAST....
Hope Owen is healed and everyone in your family is healthy :)
